The global Highly Active Polyisobutylene market is projected to grow from US$ million in 2024 to US$ million by 2031, at a CAGR of %(2025-2031), driven by critical product segments and diverse end‑use applications, while evolving U.S. tariff policies introduce trade‑cost volatility and supply‑chain uncertainty.
Highly reactive polyisobutylene (HIPP) is a polymer made from the polymerization of isobutylene monomer (isopentene). It usually has a highly branched structure and therefore has good fluidity, cold resistance and elasticity. HIPP is commonly used in the rubber industry, especially in tire manufacturing. It can be used as one of the components of tire compounds to help improve tire performance such as wear resistance, fatigue resistance and aging resistance. Due to its high activity and branched structure, HIPP is able to maintain good elasticity at low temperatures and good stability at high temperatures. In addition, HIPP is also used in the production of other rubber products, such as seals, pipes, hoses, etc. It can also be used as a modifier and added to other polymers to improve their properties, such as enhancing tear resistance and improving heat resistance. In general, highly reactive polyisobutylene is an important rubber raw material with broad application prospects and plays an important role in the tire and other rubber products industries.
From a downstream perspective, Automobile Industry accounted for % of 2024 revenue, surging to US$ million by 2031 (CAGR: % from 2025–2031).
Highly Active Polyisobutylene leading manufacturers including Braskem, Chevron Oronite, Daelim Industrial, INEOS Group, Lubrizol Corporation, TPC Group, Infineum, Hongrui New Material Co., Ltd., Daelim, ENEOS, etc., dominate supply; the top five capture approximately % of global revenue, with Braskem leading 2024 sales at US$ million.
Regional Outlook:
North America rose from US$ million in 2024 to a forecast US$ million by 2031 (CAGR %).
Asia‑Pacific will expand from US$ million to US$ million (CAGR %), led by China (US$ million in 2024, % share rising to % by 2031), Japan (CAGR %), South Korea (CAGR %), and Southeast Asia (CAGR %).
Europe is set to grow from US$ million to US$ million (CAGR %), with Germany projected to hit US$ million by 2031 (CAGR %).
