Selective laser sintering is a 3D printing technology that uses high-power lasers to selectively sinter powder materials, layer by layer, to form three-dimensional solids. This technique usually uses thermoplastic powders such as nylon and polystyrene, which are scanned by a laser beam based on three-dimensional model data to melt and bond. When finished, the unsintered powder can be used as a support to facilitate the fabrication of complex structures. It is widely used in prototyping, small-volume parts production and customized product manufacturing.

Manufacturing Processes and Market Trends:
Selective laser sintering is a systematic additive manufacturing process. First, a thin layer of thermoplastic powder material, such as nylon or polystyrene, is laid in the forming cylinder. Then, according to the slice profile data of the three-dimensional model, the high-power laser beam selectively scans and irradiates the powder layer. After the powder in the irradiated area absorbs laser energy, it heats up and melts and solidifies. The forming cylinder is then lowered by a layer thickness distance. The powder supply cylinder rises and the new powder is evenly spread on the sintered layer by the powder spreading roller. The laser then scans and sinters the new layer and firmly bonds it with the lower layer. This cycle continues layer by layer until the entire solid part is completed, and the manufacturing is completed. After that, the part needs to be taken out of the powder cylinder, the unsintered powder wrapped around it is removed and recycled, and post-treatment such as sandblasting is usually performed to obtain better surface quality.
